Mandala Magic for Seasonal Change: Creative Healing to Close Summer and Step Into Fall

Winding Down from Summer
Summer tends to pull us outward.
Out into the sun.
Out into other people’s plans.
Out into motion; travel, gatherings, activity, noise.
And sometimes that’s beautiful.
We soak in joy, connection, and nature. We swim, laugh, wander, and explore.
We say yes more. We stretch a little farther.
And sometimes… we overextend.
The season can leave us feeling bright and full, or scattered and crispy.
Often, both.
As summer begins to wind down, it’s helpful to pause for an end of summer reflection and gently take stock:
- What was nourishing this season?
- What left you depleted?
- What moments helped you remember who you are?
- And what would you like to leave behind as the light begins to shift?
You might have had a magical trip… or a trip that taught you your limits.
You might have found more connection with others… or realized how much you long for solitude.
You may have kept up routines… or completely let them go.
There’s no right way to do summer.
But there is a wise way to close it.
The rhythms of the year are just like the ones in our bodies, expansion and contraction, inhale and exhale, sunlight and shadow.
Late summer self-care is a natural time to return inward, to reflect, to begin setting the tone for the season ahead.
Maybe you’re feeling the nudge to create structure again.
Or to reestablish your boundaries.
Or a nervous system reset after holding so much space for others.
There’s still time to enjoy these last golden days.
But now is also the time to start listening for what comes next.

• Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly.
• Close your eyes if you can, and take a slow inhale through your nose…
• Hold that breath for just a moment…
• Then let it go with a sigh.
• Feel your body soften and your shoulders drop.
Ask yourself. What is one thing I want to carry forward into the new season? And what is one thing I am ready to release?
